General Responsibilities:
Environmental Technician/Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) technician will observe, document and monitor construction activities associated with landfill construction. Projects will include cell liner systems, cell final closure cap systems, landfill gas collection and control systems and other appurtenances related to a state of the art solid waste management facility. You will work as a member of the project CQA team, and at times independently, to evaluate whether the completed construction meets governing project specifications and regulatory permit conditions. You will perform field testing of various construction materials, and secure samples of materials that are laboratory tested to confirm compliance with project specifications. You will also work closely with the project engineer to prepare the as-built documentation needed to certify completed work. Travel will be required for project services.
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. Operates field monitoring equipment. Assists with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. Tabulate and prepare data for written reports. Cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment.
Environmental Technician/Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) technician may also perform various observations and tests on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel and asphalt. Technicians communicate with Project Managers, client representatives, contractor's representatives and other key stakeholders regarding testing and inspection results. Successful candidates will receive in-depth technical training and professional certifications as they advance in the position within 1-2 years.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
- Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
- Document and prepare sample testing and observation data using a laptop or smartphone; submit findings accurately to a Project Manager.
- May assist more senior inspectors on projects.
- Maintains equipment and calibrations.
- Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
- Associates degree in Environmental, Civil Engineering Technology
- Construction experience preferred.
- 40 HR HAZWOPER
- Current industry certifications for materials testing a plus, not required.
